Today, The San Marcos Food Blog is very happy to be reviewing a seriously great local chef and caterer by the name of Rachel Emry, owner and operator of Emry Grace In-Home Services which serves several locations in the Central Texas Area.
If you are looking for a seriously professional and skilled Personal Chef for events that have 50 or less people, Rachel Emry is a name you need to know.
She does not have set menus and there isn’t anything that she will not make. Rachel describes herself as “Turn Key” and says that she will set-up, prepare, serve, and break down. She is also not limited to savory cuisine, and can also make cakes and pastries. One thing I noticed very quickly after meeting this chef was that she is incredibly versatile.
I must say that I was incredibly satisfied and impressed with her food. Rachel Emry went to culinary school in Austin and has been working as a Personal Chef and Caterer among other things ever since.

I first met Rachel after she began instructing my sister in the Israeli self-defense practice of Krav Maga. I was pleasantly surprised to find that she was also a professional Chef who offers in-home catering with meals that are always tailored expressly for the customer.
I was very excited to be invited to her home not once, but twice, to get an idea of what she could do. It was quite impressive to be able to have a conversation with her about all things food while she simultaneously prepared incredibly delicious and detailed entrees and desserts. She could do it all without seeming the least bit stressed.
For the first dinner, Rachel prepared Chicken Piccata with Garlic Ciabatta Bread and for dessert a Guinness Chocolate Stout Cake with Chocolate Ganache and Hazelnut Cream
Everything was so delicious. I could taste everything so clearly and cleanly. Every detail was nailed down to the texture of the noodles. Definitely the best piccata I have had in a long time..
The Guinness Stout Cake was insane. I would eat that everyday for the rest of my life. It was so rich but so full of flavor too and just the right level of sweet with just a little bitter that made it so good.
For the second dinner, Rachel prepared a Dijon Crusted Rack of Lamb with Mushroom Merlot Sauce and Spanish Bleu Cheese, Garlic Parmesan Roasted Blue Potatoes and Sauteed Garden Medley and for Dessert, a Lemon Tart with Fresh Berries. I really was blown away at just how much finesse Rachel exhibits while she prepares her amazing food..
The lamb was cooked perfectly and each part of the dish really added a ton of flavor. She is a master in the kitchen. One can tell just by what she decides to prepare that she has impeccable taste. This meal was so nuanced with every dish taken to greater heights of flavor with just that little extra attention to detail in all areas. I could eat this meal over and over again.
As you can see, this Chef can make some magic on a plate. So, if you are looking for someone to impress for your small event or party in the Central Texas area, Rachel Emry is a name you need to know.
